 PRESSNIGHT THRILLER LIVE REVIEWS

Once more, Denise is looking and sounding great and is on top of the world, garnering great reviews for her outstanding performance.

*"The best thing about the show is Denise Prearson, formerly of the now defunct group Five Star, who sounds more like Jackson than the lot of them and who has got her "nuh-uhs" and "yeh, yehs" down to a zealous fine art (her Brother Stedman kept cheering proudly in front of me".

Daily Express.

"Perhaps the greatest discovery of the evening is Denise Pearson, who marries a sassy, shapely stage persona to some of Jackson’s best loved tracks, producing something as exquisite as her rendition of The Way You Make Me Feel."

The Stage.

"But things look up in the second half. Denise Pearson, formerly of 80s pop outfit 5 Star, ("the British Jackson 5") delivers a sassy rendition of The Way You Make Me Feel and makes it her own."

The Guardian.

"Kieran Alleyne as the young Jackson and former 5 Star singer Denise Pearson stand out among the strong-voiced vocalists."

Daily Mail.

Among the singers, I was particularly impressed by John Moabi, though he bears not the faintest resemblance to Jackson, and Denise Pearson, formerly of Five Star, who does

The Telegraph.

The star of the show is little Kieran Alleyne as the young Jackson, and he is superbly supported by the absolutely wonderful Denise Pearson – lead vocalist of Five Star; who the hell were they? – who seems to morph into Michael in her soprano moments

Whats on stage.

But a highlight is Denise Pearson, a former member of the UK’s version of the Jacksons, brother and sister band Five Star, whose 1980s heyday coincided with Jackson’s height of fame. Looking remarkably on form for someone whose band celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, Pearson sings many of Jackson’s songs, including I’ll Be There and Rock With You

The official London Theatre.

The cast, in the vast majority, were very talented both in song and dance - fantastic dancing and some brilliant voices - Denise Pearson was outstanding - and at times could have been mistaken for sister Janet Jackson!!!

Locals night out.

from the deeply impressive Kieran Alleyne to Denise Pearson, Roger Wright, John Moabi and Ben Foster, all of which seems to scream that Michael Jackson belongs to all colours, ages and even sexes. Of these performances Pearson’s (a former member of Five Star, the UK version of Jackson 5) is the closest to him, bringing a precision and focus to both the vocal pieces and dance numbers which has some of the star quality of Jackson himself. She is the only adult who combines both the impressive talent for dancing and singing that he excelled at. *

Public review.

Denise Pearson, former frontwoman of pop clan Five Star (aka 'Essex's answer th the Jackson'), makes a radiantly classy comeback, including her smouldering rendition of The Way You Make Me Feel.

Metrolife.

Denise Pearson is an English singer and song writer who was the lead vocalist in the group "Five Star" with her four siblings from 1983 to 2006 when the group disbanded. She has a sassy stage presence and her first number "I'll Be There" is sung with supreme confidence.

Curtainup.

Denise Pearson was by far the best Michael Jackson with the best voice.

DENISE PEARSON IS CLEARLY TALENTED

the best Michael was a woman

I have to admit that, as a massive fan of Denise Pearson, I'm biased - but I LOVED the show.

We were blown away with Denise Pearson and Ben Foster.

Denise Pearson, decked out in an all-white ensemble and looking more than just a little like the man himself – well, it’s true – sings flawlessly throughout, dazzling us early on with a stand-out performance of ‘Blame it on the Boogie’. Her minxy rendition of ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ is also impressive as she cavorts on stage with some fit men half her age while dressed in a shimmery little black number. You gotta love it.

Denise Pearson as the soul mamma of Motown

The Independent.

Denise Pearson was fantastic and looks incredible

Denise was REALLY the star of the show..I LOVED her.

Thriller Live. The general consensus is that Denise Pearson is the best thing about the show.*

My review of the Matinee Performance of Thriller Live Sunday 11th Jan

WOW WOW WOW!

I went to the Matinee performance of Thriller Live on Sunday 11th Jan 2009 and to be honest one person stole the show and yes you guessed "Denise Pearson"

Not knowing what to expect with Denise in her first role in the west end my hopes where high and she did not disappoint one bit!

Her first track was "Ill be there" and was introduced by name to the stage , she looked and sounded amazing and i was glued to the stage while she performed.

Denise went onto sing many other tracks , the stand out performance for me was "the way you make me feel" where she starts off singing slow and sexy and then speeds it up, vocals were outstanding.

The second half of the show gets the audience involved and dancing in there aisles by then everyone was loving the show singing along and screams coming from all directions!!

Denise is brought on to sing at the end of many of the songs too and I believe it is because she can hit those high notes and her voice stands out and above anyone else on the stage , her voice really suits Michaels music and she is the perfect singer for the job and believe she has been cast the perfect role for her.

It is hard to put into words how amazing Denise is looking and her vocals just blew me away, she truly is a talented star and I hope this is another stepping stone for us to see and hear more from her over the years.

If you get a chance buy a ticket and get yourself off to the Lyric Theatre and see Thiller Live DO IT!, I promise you will not be disappointed and want to see it again as I do!

Denise we love you and you truly are the star of the show!

Denise first appeared for the fifth number, I'll Be There, and was introduced by name, to warm applause. She wore a simple, but beautiful, black, beaded dress during this number.

Her second number is Blame It On The Boogie. This was a solo vocal, performed with a group of dancers so lots of action as well as fantastic singing. This outfit was a long, silver top over leggings so plenty of room for movement. The audience really warmed up to her for this number and the applause was LOUD.

Rock With You sees Diva D back on the stage in an absolutely STUNNING white dress, with silver beading, and the most outrageous amount of bling. It was during this number it struck me how much Toni Braxton is like Denise. This dress turned out to be quite revealing and Denise has the body to carry it off effortlessly. I can't believe she's 40.

Rock With You, which she performed with the others, segued neatly into It's The Falling In Love. The setup for this number is Denise standing behind a huge mirror, putting on makeup with two friends, who later provide backing vocals.

Can You Feel It - Sorry, I've totally forgotten what Denise wore during this ensemble number. I want to say that she was in a military jacket but I think it's my imagination, LOL.

INTERVAL

Denise opened the second half of the show with Wannabe Startin Something/P.Y.T. Denise wore a white trouser suit which looked amazing against her flawless skin and long hair. I'll post some pics of this number later (we got told off for taking pics so these are the only ones we got). THE CROWD WENT NUTS AFTER THIS PERFORMANCE.

The Way You Make Me Feel really gave Denise the chance to show off. It started with her standing in front of a lit panel which created a silhouette. The number begins with Denise singing the first verse and chorus in a laid-back, lounge style. This was just Denise, alone, showing off her vocal ability against a sparse musical accompaniment which resulted in applause DURING the number. Then it suddenly turns into the full-on version which people went even crazier for. Denise had four guys dancing with her and she was really into it, working them, the stage, and the crowd. As for the outfit, just think Rock My World and you're about there (but I think she's so much hotter now). Again, the audience went crazy during, and after, this song.

Denise came back on during I Just Can't Stop Loving You, swapping her leather jacket for a white, faux-fur coat. I thought this was a lovely duet and that she had real chemistry with Roger Wright who sang with her.

Denise came on AGAIN for the next number, Smooth Criminal, in a silver flapper dress (you know, like the one that Alesha Dixon wore for The Boy Does Nothing). There wasn't too much for her to do here apart from belt out the ad-libs and 'woos' at the end of the song (she even did that brilliantly) but she danced in the chorus and looked AMAZING.

For The Man In The Mirror, Denise provided backing vocals towards the end of the number. For this apearance she wore a black trouser suit and stayed up on the gantry at the back of the stage.

Earth Song and Heal The World were staged together with the entire cast dressed in white. Denise wore a simple, white dress with wide straps and a sweetheart neckline. Once again, she nailed every line she was given to sing and more than held her own with the four, male lead vocalists. More bling with this outfit (earrings, necklace, bracelet, ring, even shoes). I didn't notice Denise wearing an engagement ring during the show unless it was the HUGE ring she sometimes wore on her ring finger. If that's her engagement ring then her fiancee has more money than God because it was more of a flying saucer than a ring

After a couple of pure dance numbers in which she did not appear, Denise returned to the stage to sing Bad and Black or White. This marked the return of the white trouser-suit and the girl ROCKED the stage along with the entire cast.

All in all, I thought Denise did a stellar job and the audience loved her.

I just can't wait to see it again!!

P.S. I got to meet Denise for the first time ever after the show and she was just as lovely as I'd hoped she'd be. I've had the opportinity to meet her before but was too shy to do so. To anyone out there who hasn't taken the opportunity to meet her - just do it, she's more than worth it.

Former Five Star lead vocalist Denise Pearson will make her London West End debut in Thriller - Live, a musical based on the career of Michael Jackson.

She will be joined by Ricko Baird, who choreographed and doubled for Jackson in the You Rock My World video.

Baird has also toured alongside the singer, whose hits include Bad and The Way You Make Me Feel.

The show, which has already toured Germany and Holland, starts in January at London's Lyric Theatre.

Earlier this month open auditions were held to find a young actor to play Jackson on stage.

Five Star was made up of five brothers and sisters

Three teenagers, all aged 13, were selected after they impressed the casting panel by singing the Jackson 5 hit I Want You Back.

The opening performance of the show, which celebrates Jackson's career and features his hits, will take place on 2 January.

The singer himself is not involved in the production.

Essex group Five Star were a family group in the style of the Jacksons, scoring top 10 hits from the mid-80s including Rain or Shine and System Addict.
